Evecon RAJU 19 Main Event Revealed: Maikel Astur Faces Romanian Powerhouse Robert Alexandru Constantin

Evecon RAJU

The long-awaited main event opponent for Estonia’s top MMA fighter Maikel Astur (5–0) at Evecon RAJU 19 has been revealed. On 11 April at Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn, Astur will face Romanian combat sports star Robert Alexandru Constantin (7–1) in the up to 77.1 kg weight class at the major MMA event.

Undefeated Maikel “The Sniper” Astur Faces a New Romanian Threat at Evecon RAJU 19

Still unbeaten, Maikel “The Sniper” Astur (30) has repeatedly delivered adrenaline-filled performances for Estonian fight fans. His most recent bout at Evecon RAJU 18 against Poland’s Oskar Herczyk proved to be the toughest test of his career so far, as Astur secured a split-decision victory after three rounds of intense striking exchanges. Now, an even more dangerous challenger from Romania awaits.

Astur: “These Are the Fights I Want”

“The fight with Herczyk showed me exactly what I need to sharpen, and since then I’ve been working even harder in the gym. Constantin is another strong and experienced opponent, but these are exactly the kinds of fights I’m looking for. I didn’t come to this league to collect easy wins, but to prove that I belong among Europe’s elite,” said Maikel Astur.

Robert Alexandru Constantin – ‘The Iceman’ from Romania

Robert Alexandru Constantin, known by the nickname “The Iceman,” is a seasoned and dangerously versatile fighter. A Romanian national boxing champion, he is widely recognized for his devastating punching power. However, Astur cannot afford to underestimate him if the fight goes to the ground either – Constantin holds a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, giving him the technical skill set and experience to execute dangerous submissions.

A Shared Opponent Adds Extra Intrigue

Adding an extra layer of intrigue is the fact that both fighters have defeated the same opponent during their careers – fellow Romanian Damian Zaharia. At RAJU 17, Astur treated the crowd to a spectacular highlight-reel finish, knocking Zaharia out with a flying knee. Constantin, on the other hand, demonstrated his versatility by submitting Zaharia with a guillotine choke. This comparison underlines that both men possess the tools to end the fight before the final bell.

Eastern European Toughness Meets Precision

Coming from Romania’s premier fight promotion Dynamite Fighting Show (DFS), Constantin is accustomed to big arenas and aggressive opponents, bringing with him the trademark toughness of Eastern European combat sports. While he relies on heavy hands in stand-up exchanges, his BJJ skills make him an unpredictable opponent on the ground—capable of finishing the fight either by knockout or with a well-set submission.

A Career-Defining Clash

“This is a potentially career-altering fight for both men. If Astur defeats a fighter with a 7–1 record, it sends a clear message that he belongs among Europe’s elite and is closer to the UFC than ever before. For Constantin, who recently suffered a loss to the very tough Adam Darby, a win over an undefeated 5–0 fighter would prove that the setback was merely a fluke. A stoppage victory would amplify either man’s statement even further,” said Ott Tõnissaar, CEO of Evecon Raju.
