The Estonian amateur fighters competing at the Baltics’ largest mixed martial arts event, Evecon Raju 19, have been confirmed. Randel Uibo, Silver Tagu, and Mattias Jonatan Lehtsaar come from different backgrounds but are rapidly developing young fighters who all belong to the Estonian national team set to compete at the European Championships in Serbia this February.
Randel Uibo – 19-Time Estonian Wrestling Champion, Firefighter, and Relentless Workhorse
Randel Uibo (26) is one of the most prominent names in Estonian amateur MMA.
A 19-time Estonian champion in wrestling and a two-time Estonian champion in MMA, he has also practiced boxing and kickboxing before transitioning to MMA in 2022.
Uibo’s adult record stands at 8 wins and 5 losses (8–5). He stands out for his physical strength, work ethic, and training discipline — according to him, every step into the cage represents hundreds of hours of work and determination.
In addition to his athletic career, he works as a firefighter, and the structure of his work schedule supports consistent training.
Uibo won the youth amateur tournament at the previous Evecon Raju event and took home the prize money, which enabled him to attend the MMA World Championships in Georgia this autumn as a spectator.
Silver Tagu – One of Estonia’s Most Experienced Young Amateurs
Only 20 years old, Silver Tagu is one of Estonia’s most experienced young amateur MMA athletes.
Having wrestled in his youth, Tagu moved into MMA at the age of 16.
In a short time, he has accumulated a record of 14 wins and 7 losses (14–7).
Tagu has gained invaluable experience at the IMMAF European and World Championships, placing fifth at the Worlds on two separate occasions.
He is also a 5-time Estonian MMA champion and a 3-time Baltic champion.
Tagu has competed at Raju twice:
- one victory at Raju 15 against Ukrainian Viktor Kiulafly
- one loss at Raju 16 against French fighter Hayfa Reda
Mattias Jonatan Lehtsaar – Former Professional Cyclist and Rising MMA Talent
Mattias Jonatan Lehtsaar (4–3) is a relatively new name in the Estonian MMA community but not in the sports world. As a former competitive cyclist, he possesses exceptional endurance, which he now applies to MMA.
Lehtsaar, who has also trained in boxing, describes his MMA style as similar to that of a Mexican–American power puncher — aggressive, pressure-heavy, and strike-focused.
Organizer’s Comment
“Half of our national amateur team will be showcased on this card — they get to prove themselves in front of a home crowd and on a much larger stage than at international championships,” said Ott Tõnissaar, CEO of Evecon Raju.
“This is a huge opportunity for fans as well — to see their favourites who increasingly compete abroad. Uibo and Tagu are already familiar names to the Raju audience, while Lehtsaar is new and exciting talent.”
