One of the best known Estonian MMA fighters Madis Mäeste has joined the Evecon Raju MMA league, signing an exclusive contract that will tie his next performances to the RAJU arena. The cooperation marks a significant step in Mäeste’s career and in the development of Estonian MMA.

Madis “The Viking” Mäeste – Estonian MMA Powerhouse

Madis “The Viking” Mäeste is admired for his uncompromising fighting style, as his powerful and devastating performances always provide the audiences with an exciting spectacle. He has been a member of the Estonian national team and has achieved an impressive record of 19 wins and 2 losses as an amateur. In addition, it is worth noting that 15 of the victories have come by a knockout or submission. He also develops martial arts as a trainer, being one of the founders of the sports club Invicta in Pärnu.

Mäeste’s amateur career included participation in the IMMAF European Championships 2019, where he finished in the 9–16 place with 1 win and 1 loss. In professional MMA, he has participated in two fights in the lightweight division so far. Last spring, he defeated Aleksander Krupenkin (Ukraine) with a rear naked choke in the first round. Last autumn he lost to Amer Salameh (Italy) by a technical knockout in the second round.

Signs Multi-Fight Deal, Faces Yasir Uyar at Raju 18

According to Ott Tõnissaar, CEO of Evecon Raju, Madis Mäeste is a warrior and a very intense character. “He exudes an energy that starts to stifle the opponent even before the match starts,” he said. “Madis Mäeste is a very powerful in style and an experienced MMA fighter. His participation in the Raju fight nights brings significantly more excitement to both the arena and the screens – Madis gets people going, win or lose, it’s always a memorable battle.”

In the framework of the new contract, Madis Mäeste’s next performance is scheduled for the Evecon Raju 18 competition night in Tondiraba Ice Hall this autumn. His opponent will be Yasir Uyar from Turkey, who was challenged by Mäeste at an event in February, where Uyar defeated Latvian Dans Bukovskis by a technical knockout in round 1. According to Madis Mäeste, his goal is to fight quality matches on home soil. “I committed myself to Evecon Raju for the next three matches,” said Mäeste. My next opponent will be a fighter exactly like myself, so it’s an interesting situation where I’m sort of going up against myself in the cage. Like me, Uyar is not afraid of striking, nor of wrestling. I’m really looking forward to the fight, because everyone dreams of a victory over themselves, so to speak.”

The next event – Evecon RAJU 18 – will take place on 20 September at Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn.
