The amateur bouts at Evecon Raju 19, the Baltic region’s largest MMA event, will form a heated Estonia vs Finland team match. In front of a home crowd, Estonian fighters will face experienced opponents arriving from their northern neighbors.
Estonian Amateurs Tested After European Championships
Some time ago, three Estonian amateur fighters were announced – Randel Uibo, Silver Tagu, and Mattias Lehtsaar – but Randel Uibo has withdrawn and will be replaced by Rasmus Ronin Jõgi. While Silver Tagu and Mattias Lehtsaar will further sharpen their form at the European Championships taking place in February, for Rasmus Jõgi, Evecon Raju 19 represents one of the most important appearances of the season, offering a chance to showcase his development and level against an international opponent.
Team Matchups
56.7 kg: Silver Tagu (14-7) vs Henry Pyyny (6-4)
Only 20 years old but already with 21 amateur bouts, Tagu is one of Estonia’s most decorated amateur fighters. His résumé includes five Estonian championship titles, three Baltic championship titles, and two impressive fifth-place finishes at the IMMAF World Championships. He will face Finland’s Pyyny, who earned a spot on the Finnish national team after just two years of training. Pyyny is a Finnish champion in both MMA and ADCC submission wrestling and has already represented Finland at three major international tournaments. A clash between such well-rounded fighters can lead to anything.
74.8 kg: Rasmus Ronin Jõgi (2-1) vs Aleksi Janne Sahlberg (7-6)
Jõgi is a successful freestyle wrestler, a two-time Estonian youth champion, and represented Estonia at the 2025 European Championships, finishing 16th. Despite having trained in MMA for less than a year, he defeated two-time Estonian amateur MMA champion Pärt Laas in his very first bout. Sahlberg is a versatile fighter with a strong six-year boxing background, although most of his victories have come by submission. He also holds a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, making him a tough challenge for Jõgi.
83.9 kg: Mattias Lehtsaar (4-3) vs Elmeri Suominen (6-6)
Lehtsaar, known for his aggressive, strike-focused style, will face Elmeri Suominen in the team match. This is expected to be a classic striker-versus-striker bout, where neither man is likely to hold back, as both simply enjoy a good fight.
Organizer’s Comment
“Amateur bouts are an integral part of Raju, but this time the Estonia–Finland team match format adds a completely new emotional layer to the event. It’s not just a sporting duel, but a matter of national pride,” said Ott Tõnissaar, CEO of Evecon Raju. “Finland has around ten years more MMA history than we do, and they’ve had fighters competing in the UFC as well. We created worthy matchups for the amateurs, and we expect exciting and combative fights,” Tõnissaar added.
